Electronic Arts has released The Sims 2 for free via Origin, including all expansions and related packs. The company has announced it will stop providing updates or fixes for the game, though support will remain available through contact for those who need assistance. Recently, EA reached out to owners of The Sims 2, letting them know about the change and offering a free upgrade to the newly launched The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection. This collection is now being provided at no cost to all Origin users for a limited period. To claim it, open Origin, choose the "Redeem Product Code" option, and enter the code I-LOVE-THE-SIMS by July 31 at 10 AM Pacific time. If you don’t have an account yet, you can register for free. The Ultimate Collection contains the core game plus every expansion pack and themed packs—essentially a comprehensive bundle of content since 2004.
