I encountered a spyware problem with my system after an infected hard drive was removed. A Windows antivirus scan was performed, but no threats were detected. The issue appears sporadically during searches, making it difficult to resolve. Others have reported similar unpredictable occurrences.

Test MalwareBytes for free and observe its results. Avast Free also performs well, identifying threats Windows Defender and MalwareBytes missed. Try both options.

It doesn't start the browser by itself. It only redirects there when you click on other links.

Reinstalling windows should effectively remove the issue, though you may feel unsure about doing it. When you mention this occurs during searches, it might be related to typing in the address bar rather than actual redirects. Have you verified there aren’t any unusual extensions interfering? No, every antivirus relies on the same vulnerability sources, so anything unique is probably a warning.

There are numerous discussions similar to this across various platforms, not limited to Avast.

Hey? That's different from what I expected when looking. MWB works well overall, though canceling is a bit tricky. Apart from that, Windows Defender covers most needs nicely. This one seems quite handy.

Occasionally shift to other pages like Twitch.tv and then move to that site.

It seems unusual. You mentioned it originated from a compromised hard drive, but I thought installing a program was necessary for the infection. Have you identified the real source of the malware? You might want to upload it to Virus Total for further analysis.
