Hello
A friend requires a new build with a budget of 2000 Euro, willing to spend more if necessary for better long-term performance. Based in the Netherlands. Primarily intended for gaming, supports Windows and storage, optimized for 1440p gaming. AMD or Intel is acceptable, depending on which offers greater future-proofing value.
Thank you
For gaming, AMD provides superior value compared to performance. How much weight does your friend give to ray tracing? Since Nvidia leads AMD in ray tracing technology, yet their graphics cards are more expensive, I understand their preference. My setup uses an AMD configuration suitable for 1440p and possibly 4K, which aligns with a budget when converted to euros. I’ll list my components as a starting point.
CPU: Ryzen 5 7600x
CPU cooler: AIO 240mm (Cooler Master)
Motherboard: B650 (Gigabyte B650m gaming x ax)
RAM: 2x16GB DDR5 6,000MHz CL30 EXPO (G.Skill Flare X5)
GPU: RX 7900xt (Sapphire pulse)
PSU: 1,000w (a decent brand, likely to improve)
Storage: 1TB NVME plus a few older SSDs I own
Case: Mini ATX size from Cooler Master...since my board is mATX, it includes three fans.
OS: Windows 11
This configuration performs well for me; the CPU is likely the least powerful part, but it’s sufficient for gaming right now. With future AMD CPUs expected soon, I plan an upgrade. If your friend has enough funds for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, this is currently the top choice for gaming performance.
The 120mm fan is positioned inside the rear compartment of that case for a rear exhaust fan.

AMD will maintain compatibility with the updated AM5 connector for an extended period, surpassing the timeline Intel has set for its existing socket design.
for better long-term planning avoid Intel LGA1700 now it’s pointless..
i can’t suggest any Nvidia graphics unless you’re going big with the monster 4090 the 16gb 7800xt 20 gb 7900xt or the 24gb 7900xtx will offer stronger future protection even if it means missing out on DLSS and the inconsistent RT bonuses!!
until we have the final specs of the 4080ti i’m not sure if it’s worth it either..
now if the 4080ti comes with 20gb of VRAM and “LMFAO priced reasonably” it might become a solid future-proof GPU.
Thats why the LMFAO ..
and yes the 4080 in general is more expensive than the 7900xtx
BUT
ive seen some speculation and with a HUGE grain of salt speculation that it could be priced at the same release price as the 4080 was !!
So if you go back in time and think which was the better buy the 4080 or the 7900xtx ( RT excluded ) the 7900xtx was the better cheaper buy when it trades blows with the 4080 ,,
But if the 4080ti sits firmly between the 4080 and 4090 beating the 7900xtx by a decent amount at the OG 4080 price its starts to make alot of sense to buy a 4080ti !!
even if the 50 series is slated for a 2025 release !!
