i'm not super familiar with tech, but i need to upgrade my memory. right now i have a random 1x8GB ram stick from an unknown brand, and i want to switch to 16GB. i have a gigabyte gb-8100 board running a ryzen 7 1700 chipset. you mentioned kingston fury beast 16GB (2x8GB) at 3200mhz. what kind of memory should i get?
The package looks good, nothing seems risky. Keep in mind that older Ryzen 7 chips like the 1700 often have poor memory controllers, so a 3200MHz speed might not be reliable unless you're lucky. Luckily, this build includes two XMP profiles—one for 3200MHz and another for 3000MHz CL15, which should cover your needs if the first doesn't work.
I'm discussing this with @RONOTHAN##. Honestly, I'm leaning toward an upgrade now. The A320 is lagging behind in its chipset by two or three generations, and the 1700 also has its problems. You can assemble a 5600X setup using a B450 or B550 relatively affordably these days. I just completed a temporary build with a used 3600X and B450M for $180 while my B550 was in RMA.
