I reviewed an article today and noticed I lacked AMD power plan choices, so I updated my chipset drivers and motherboard BIOS. Now I have a 4.0 configuration. I applied the.10 offset to vcore as usual. After checking, this is where I stand. Here’s the link: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/1us...nload.html. I’m using that plan with these BIOS settings. Global C-state Control is enabled, Idle Current is low, CPPC is active, and Preferred Cores are on. I’m hoping this improves performance without stressing the CPU. 4.2/4.25 across all cores during gameplay with just the.10 offset. Anyone familiar with similar settings? I've run a 95 MHz small FFT for around 30 minutes, checking all sets every 20 minutes. Results are roughly consistent at 4.1-4.25Ghz. I expect performance to stay similar in-game thanks to the 4.2 constant in most games. But I'm curious—does adjusting the Vcore offset affect the boost clocks with the changes I made in the BIOS?
It's a two-way street. Lower voltage means lower temperatures (hopefully) which should improve boost performance and increase all cores. However, sometimes this leads to instability. Stick with the -offset when it's stable. Reduce until it no longer works. Give a bit back for stability and keep testing there. Usually, if you're running heavy loads—like gaming or streaming—go with Ryzen or 1Mus Performance. You'll get balanced performance or power savings depending on what you're doing: browsing, watching videos, or light tasks. I switch using a tool called QuickCpu. The only real reason I use it is to easily disable core parking without editing the registry. Also, in the memory section, you can quickly clear the system and cached memory, which might boost performance slightly too. If you're already overclocking and adjusting in another program or BIOS, don't run these together for tweaks (especially for Intel). But it's a handy utility to have. Also, Cpu-z lets you verify your clocks.
I stream and play games from one system using a single power plan—probably because its near 100% CPU usage. I’m considering Ryzen too, which sounds promising. Will be ordering that soon. You can also verify EDC and PPT settings in Ryzen Master (if you use that tool). Gaming mode occasionally raises these values. Feel free to boost them for better performance. For my setup, I tend to cap it at 90a, but I manually adjust it to 120a when needed.
I adjusted the settings in bios and stopped using Ryzen Master for testing. It seems accurate according to the latest update. My system boots quicker than Windows loading three times. I noticed it doesn’t spin before the desktop like with my Intel setup, which is interesting. I’ll keep experimenting with voltage changes slowly to avoid damage. I never overclocked the chip—I just kept adjusting frequency or voltage to lower temperatures for better clock speeds. Cinebench scores improved by around 200 points, especially during rendering tasks I run sometimes in Sony Vegas using MeGUI.
Check your memory settings. Enabling XMP or DOCP can improve performance as well.
