Because your home is large and many devices are connected, you’ll likely need an additional router. Should I suggest getting another cable modem? I attempted using one but ran into issues. Thanks.

You don’t require a second modem or router. Use a wireless distribution system or a wireless repeater instead. It works best if both devices are from the same manufacturer, making setup simple.

No extra modem required. In fact, the only way to have a second modem on your account usually is if one handles internet and the other voice, with just one per account. You’d essentially need to create a separate paid internet account to use a second modem. Your best option is to connect via Ethernet to the area without service and set up a wireless access point. Alternatively, you could install a switch for more Ethernet ports nearby. If Ethernet isn’t feasible, consider power line or MOCA adapters—MOCA being the superior choice.

Thank you for the guidance. It really makes a difference. Also, it’s common to require a phone line in an office, which might simplify things.

You might require a phone connection in your workspace. The second modem wouldn’t handle data—it’d only support voice calls. That means you’d have to find another method, like WiFi or Ethernet, to connect your office from the main modem.
