Would there be a noticeable variation between the 3200MHz CL16 and 3600MHz CL18 on the 3800X? Your questions about timings are a bit confusing, but both systems should work fine with the G.Skill TridentZ Neo 2x8GB RAM.

It's only a small difference, but if you can afford the 3600MHz CL18 kit, why not?

I'm not sure if 3600 CL18 offers real advantages over 3200 CL16. From what I've noticed, Ryzen prioritizes latency and speed more than before, so you might be seeing a lot of opinions. The key differences could be the RAM types each model uses (like Samsung B die) and whether one is available on the QVL for your specific model.

Consider purchasing the 3600Mhz CL16 for a bit more, as it offers performance improvements of several percent compared to the 3200Mhz model.

3600mhz CL18 offers advantages over 3200mhz cl16 by enabling the infinity fabric up to 1800mhz in a symmetric way. However, it's probable that 3200mhz cl16 could adapt to 3600mhz cl18 with manual adjustments.

They’re around $100 and you can shave another $25 off. I chose a Samsung B Die 3200 CL14, which is what I did. I told someone to overclock it to CL14 15 15 15 at 3600MHz. If you’re not familiar with OC, just grab this one. Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-Ripjaws-P...+cl&sr=8-3.

If you’re curious, check out YouTube tutorials on overclocking DDR4 for Ryzen. Using the Ryzen Drm Calculator helped me plan it. These B Die offer strong speed and timing.

Here are the links I found:
- Samsung B Die 3200 CL14: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-...6820232217
- Corsair RGB: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-...6820232530
- G-Skill 3600 RGB: https://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-Trident-2...869&sr=8-6

If you need RGB options, just skip my comments.

The gap between the 3200 CAS 16 and 3600 CAS 18 is $10, and the gap between 3600 CAS 18 and 3600 CAS 16 is another $10.
