I’m setting up my first PC and prefer Windows 10 Pro. Microsoft has said they won’t be selling licenses anymore, but there’s a possibility to retain your license on your laptop. Let me clarify what you need to know.

If it's an OEM license, it could be a bit complicated. You might remove the key from Windows using this guide: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3597...-10-a.html Look for it here: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/3-s...oduct-key/ If the message says 'Activated using a license tied to your Microsoft account,' you could sign in to the new computer while logging out of the old one. I'm not entirely sure laptop licenses move to desktops without issues, but it seems likely.

Microsoft might cease offering them through its official store or authorized partners like Best Buy, Newegg, MicroCenter, etc. I question the reliability of low-cost license key sellers from gray markets such as kinguin, godeal24, cjs-cdkeys, and eBay. There will likely be ample availability of Windows 10 keys from these unofficial sources.
