Get a quick guide on exporting in SketchUp
Hello. I’m looking for any (free) tools that can export .STEP/.STP files from Google SketchUp. It’s surprising there isn’t official support for this format. I’ve checked several plugins and utilities for import/export, but I’d appreciate a recommendation from someone with experience. Thanks, Chris.
I understand... It's really frustrating. What I need is to access the SketchUp library of models in the 3D warehouse and integrate them into a proper CAD program. For my projects, I usually rely on Creo Parametric for engineering models and 3DS, especially during my game design phase.
It makes perfect sense... but what steps and tools do I require? I discovered a rather outdated workaround where exporting as an .obj file lets me import it into Creo, though doing so results in a mess that can't be edited properly. It really should be a step file instead.
I don't see a suitable answer for your concern. The original text discusses challenges with switching between AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp, highlighting SketchUp's benefits for quick, affordable, and efficient rendering work. It also shares a personal recommendation to try the site.
