120fps delivers a smoother gaming session, and when hardware is constrained by software limitations, it becomes frustrating. There are plenty of other reasons to agree.

It remains your version, even if free, of the game. If it's for single-player or offline use, they shouldn't have a claim to change it, since it only impacts you.

Absolutely, that's correct. Most fighting games run smoothly at 60 frames per second, especially the Japanese third-person titles. Many people overlook how closely these mechanics are tied to the frame rate—adjusting it can cause problems. I’ve noticed this firsthand; my favorite games are stuck at 60fps, or their systems behave strangely when you try to boost it. Games like Resident Evil 2 remake and Monster Hunter World actually show this clearly, where changing the frame rate affects damage output. It’s like a built-in cheat when things get tight.

varies depending on the situation... generally speaking, more than 60fps offers minimal benefit in practice (though it can cause problems), and a lot of the results are influenced by expectations. I tested at 165fps and 330fps, but the difference was negligible since my monitor refreshes at 165fps. If there was any edge, I’d have seen it playing the fastest character in the game—speed really matters to me.

It's not about placebo, it's about fully being able to utilize your hardware, and getting max fps is just more fun. There's no logic behind it, just simply "I want no limits to my experience", cause that's why many people choose to play on PC instead of console, uncapped fps, higher resolutions, and you can tweak every single setting. All these people don't care about bang for the buck, power usage, and so on, they want "the best" cause they can afford "the best".

However, when I tweak games using cheat codes, mods, or higher frame rates, I don’t mind the problems and even anticipate them. Sometimes I accept the issues and try to work around them, because that’s what makes the experience exciting. For me, the thrill comes from testing boundaries and achieving things that aren’t possible in the original game. If I need a stable experience, I prefer not to do this, but many aspects of PC gaming revolve around customizing and expanding beyond the developers’ original vision.

That's understandable, but many folks aren't aware of this or don't know the right way to address it. I tend to stick with a fixed frame rate, whether it's 60, 120 or 180, as long as it stays locked. Thirty is pretty close! Honestly, for me, performance matters more than exact numbers—especially since I prioritize modding and emulation. In the end, it's about the games, not how much I'm using the system. (As long as it's at least 60fps, 59 is fine too!)

yeah, and no offense to op (or anyone) but genshin is a gacha game afaik... so even 1000fps will not alter the experience dramatically (i don't see how lol)

I want to enjoy every game, from the simplest 800x600 settings to 1000fps at 1000Hz on a smooth monitor. It’s about how I like to play, while others are comfortable with lower framerates and high-end features like ray tracing. Everyone’s preferences are different, and the world should meet each person’s needs.

i mean i get it, but on the other hand this is kinda unrealistic overall, sure a certain % of games you'll be able to play like this... but another % you won't, quite frankly, especially lots of gacha/online only stuff... its just not gonna work (with exceptions) so like i said i get it, its a question of priorities, but then you simply won't be playing certain games... there's a DOA gacha game for example, i played it for a few month, the gameplay is surprisingly fun (it's volleyball after all) the graphics are serviceable, but you just aren't gonna get more than like 25fps on average... it's atrocious, but being able to play it at all beats out the poor performance, for me at least, i just didn't keep playing because this gacha nonsense isn't really my thing, its annoying, its too time consuming, etc... i prefer to win/unlock stuff in games in a timely fashion and that i can actually influence how fast it goes by just playing good instead of relying on random (pre-programmed) luck... tldr, priorities i get it, but this also almost seems like chasing windmills to me, ngl. i wouldn't want to limit myself this much, ironically. yes, but that's decidedly not how the world works, everything is kind of a compromise, and often for good reasons. like i mentioned initially, lots of games are locked at 60 for a reason *on purpose* ... you dont need to play these games, i want to play them though and i understand they would be entirely different if it wasn't for that "limitation" (its a gameplay decision most and foremost rather than an actual hardware limitation) on other hand i have zero interest in the newest batman, superman, spiderman, nhl what have you last of us cause they all run and play like ass ... to each their own tho, but compromises have to be made so everyone gets at least a certain % of what they want.
