Generating an SSD image
Generating an SSD image
I considered making a visual backup of my SSD for future use. I explored CloneZilla but encountered issues with the image not booting. I’m looking for a reliable method to generate a bootable copy and save it on an external driver, ensuring it remains functional for over a year.
Previously, I cloned an SSD using Macrium. It’s not something I usually do, as I prefer clean installs. However, I found it to be very simple and without any trouble.
Only one update is allowed per system. After that it locks to your mainboard and you can perform a clean installation from an ISO. I’ve completed this on this PC and bypassed the CD key steps—logged in instantly and activated successfully.
I utilized it to duplicate the entire SSD. I replaced a Windows 8.1 setup from a 256GB drive with a 500GB one. Yes, I created the clone, swapped the disks, and resumed exactly where I stopped. Also, I took advantage of the free version. http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
