Gen1 and Gen2 USB Type C connectors differ in internal design and performance capabilities.
Hello! I recently purchased the Be Quiet! Pure Base 500DX case, and the product page lists a USB 3.1 Type C Gen. 2 connector on the front. The attached image shows the internal port clearly. For my next order, I’m considering the MSI Tomahawk series—X570 or B550. I have a query about the connectors: according to the specifications, the X570 supports USB 3.2 ports (Gen 1, Type A) and the B550 supports USB 3.2 ports (Gen 1, Type C). When comparing the pictures from both boards, they appear very similar. Does the Gen 2 connector on the case work with the Gen 1 port on the B550 motherboard? Or should I stick with the X570 model? Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks! /David
