Before you spend time downloading and wasting days, check how your system performs with GTA 5. Seeing your specs listed helps. Hopefully, someone here has similar hardware that’s played the game. I’ve looked for gameplay videos, but most show lower performance—around a 1060 with 6GB RAM. If you want steady 60 FPS, adjust the graphics settings accordingly.

I tested it on a gtx970 with 3.5gb. Performance was around 55fps max. You might want to lower some settings like v-sync and shadows.

Great! It's okay if I mostly play high. I haven't noticed much of a difference between high and ultra in most games. On my panel, is your card OC'd?

I believe this 16GB 3200mhz RAM setup should handle a combination of high and extremely high configurations well.

Hey there, just wanted to say thanks. I think I’ll probably buy it later. I’m not sure if I’ll get a controller or not, but my friends warned me that using the keyboard alone would be really bad.

GTA 5 offers a price range of $12.00 to $15.00 at least once every month. Your system will handle it smoothly, often reaching over 60 fps with the right graphics options. I've spent years perfecting GTA 5 settings and have played with an i5/1060 3GB for nearly two years. Compared to your setup, your graphics card and RAM will perform much better, giving you top-notch performance and a look almost as close to Ultra as possible if you follow my suggested settings. I’ll let you know when the price falls again—likely soon in May. Also, using a controller is preferable over K&M if you prefer it, and I can share tips on getting started in GTA Online while steering clear of modders and griefers.

What custom settings should I use? I'll wait for the price to drop. Which controller do you suggest? A PS4 controller would work well, allowing me to use it at my friend's place too.

Welcome. Here are the configurations. They ensure the highest possible FPS without sacrificing image quality. You might consider reducing distance scaling to about 20-40% instead of 60%. Begin at 20% and if you notice any sudden pops—like poles appearing unexpectedly—raise it to 30%. If pops persist, increase to 40%, and continue adjusting until none are seen. 20% offers the optimal FPS, which has worked well for me.

Beyond that, feel free to ask about any of these settings if you have questions. I’m happy to walk through each one and explain its purpose in detail.

I’m confident the PS4 controller will perform well. I favor an Xbox One controller, but even an Xbox 360 works nicely. However, if you’ve been using a PS4 controller for some time, it’s the best choice. A PS3 controller is also acceptable.

Thank you for your message. I tend to favor PS4 controllers over Xbox because my hands get confused with the Xbox ones, especially since I haven’t owned one before—just a PS2. I usually use them at home and only occasionally with friends. Regarding custom controllers, there are some sites offering them, but I’m unsure if they’re trustworthy or provide real value.
