I'm running Windows 7 because it functions well there, and I don't see a need to upgrade.

This won’t hold up long since Windows 7 doesn’t receive DX12 updates, though many users find it hard to adapt to more complex distributions.

Those seem to be the simplest; Arch Linux might be the toughest.

You likely can play with Ubuntu or Mint without much trouble, though more advanced distros like ARCH might seem tougher. The statement suggests it should have been clear I was ranking them from hardest to easiest, and it would have been obvious the harder ones are trickier. Yes, you can, but few people remember that exact phrase.

This won't hold true for a long time. We're still dealing with DX9, and it wasn't until just last year that games began properly supporting DX11, such as Tomb Raider. It will take years before DX12 becomes widely usable. Meanwhile, the most popular titles remain limited to DX8/9.0+. The slowest part of PC gaming progress seems to be adapting new APIs.

That was the case. It seems they first tried Ubuntu during their testing phases.
