Hello, my husband and I both play PC games, specifically ARK: Survival Evolved with mods. My computer is entirely custom-built, while his was a pre-assembled system purchased from a company. We paid approximately the same amount for both machines, yet my PC’s performance is significantly superior. I can provide specific specifications if needed. However, we both use similar mods and my PC takes approximately five minutes to close a game, while his closes it instantly. His computer consistently outperforms mine in loading speeds despite being a less powerful system overall. What is causing this discrepancy?

A nearly full drive can negatively affect performance. Consider defragging/defragmenting your drive using the Windows tool, but be aware that this may take a long time with limited space and if it hasn’t been performed recently. This process is not suitable for SSDs. Additionally, run Check Disk to assess your drive’s health. [https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-...ows-vista/]

We will need full pc spec of both systems. Additionally how full are the drives in your system? If you are running SSD’s I’d go to the vendors website and run any diagnostics software they provide.

I don’t have SSDs, though my 1TB drive is nearly full. He has two 1TB hard drives; one is approximately a third full, and the other is about half full. I will provide the specifications soon.

A nearly full drive can impact performance. I would also try defragging/defragmenting your drive using the Windows tool, but with little space left and if not done recently this could take a long time. This is something you do not do with SSD’s. I would also try check disk to see the health of your drive: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-...ows-vista/

Thanks for the info. Really both are reasonably new. Now drive issues can occur at any time if unlucky. I am not saying this is a drive issue but that is something that comes to mind from your description.

Thank you for your feedback; it's possible the issue stems from excessive files cluttering my hard drive.
