I have a dual Windows 10/Linux Mint installation (GRUB), I don’t want Windows 11, and I’m seriously thinking about moving completely to Linux. I’m a gamer who plays several games like TW Warhammmer 3, CP2077, KCD2, BG3, and I use mods for them. I can get my games working on Steam under Linux with Proton, but I’m not sure how to handle mod managers such as Vortex (from Nexumods) or the one for TW Warhammer 3, aptly named "WH3 Mod Manager." I found old answers online and it seemed complicated—sometimes using Wine and trying things around didn’t work well. I’d like to talk to someone about this instead of asking an AI.

I haven't tried it since I usually install mods manually, but it seems Vortex functions? The article you shared uses Wine, which might explain the issue. Also, the guide was updated in July 2025—what do you think? Also, does this work with the Nexus Mods App link you provided?

Based on my background as a mod manager, it’s most efficient to install or run from the same Wine/Proton prefix where the game was originally installed. Using tools like winetricks or protontricks can simplify this process. Open winetricks/protontricks, pick your game, choose Install, cancel, run the executable, and follow the prompts to navigate to the downloaded .exe file. The mod manager will then install it under your selected prefix for that game.

Hey team, looks like it should be manageable, though it’s still a bit confusing. I need to break out of my old Windows ways—starting from version 3.0, even using DOS for years, really!
