You can move your games and partitions to Linux, but you'll need to transfer the files manually. Steam Origin and Blizzard support transferring games to Linux, though the process may vary between platforms.
Linux lacks the driver or game compatibility that Windows offers. You can play games on it, but the experience will always be inferior. In the worst situation, if Linux gains a significant share of the OS market, Microsoft might abandon its efforts and release a completely free Windows version—one that would be more user-friendly, refined, and backed by more developers than any Linux distribution.
I don't really want to rely on Windows... and with Steam doing its thing, I hope it performs significantly better than before.
Talk based on whispers and estimates. Xbox from 2001 to 2006. 5 years. 360 in 2006-2009, then a major update in 2009-2013. Xbox One from 2013 to 2015, with updates following soon after. Every new generation seems to last around five years, even the latest ones. I remember mentioning PS5 and Xbox generations, but they tend to release together and the naming feels inconsistent.
