Hi, I own an HP Pavilion 15 gaming laptop with an EC-1052AX. It features an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor, a GeForce 1650 GPU, 8GB RAM at 3200Mhz, a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. I was able to play Valorant smoothly at over 100 FPS, but now it caps around 60-100 FPS with all low settings. When playing Apex Legends, the FPS sometimes drops to just 10, causing temporary freezes. My CPU usage stays between 30% and 40%, which translates to temperatures of 80°C to 100°C depending on the game. RAM usage is around 6500MB/8976MB. I’ve installed a cooling fan and cleaned the vents recently. No BIOS update was available, and all other drivers were updated. I used DDU and installed clean new graphics drivers. The issue still persists. Please help.

Hey there,
There might be a few issues at play.
First, you're using just 8gbs of RAM, which isn't ideal and can slow things down, leading to lower FPS and stuttering. With only one stick, you're stuck in single-channel mode, cutting your gaming performance by about 15-25% when paired with a Ryzen CPU. Adding another 8gb would switch to dual-channel, significantly boosting FPS.
Second, your CPU is likely throttling due to heat. Once it gets too hot, it reduces clock speeds to prevent damage, which also hurts performance.
Lastly, consider giving your laptop a good clean. Have you done that yet?

Hey there,
There might be a few issues to address.
First, you're only using 8gbs of RAM, which limits performance and can lead to lower FPS and stuttering. With just one stick, you're operating in single-channel mode, causing a 15-25% drop in gaming speed when paired with a Ryzen CPU. Adding another 8gb would switch to dual-channel, significantly boosting your FPS.
Second, your CPU is likely experiencing thermal throttling. Once the temperature rises, it reduces clock speeds to prevent overheating, which also affects performance.
Additionally, giving your laptop a thorough clean could help. Have you done so? You might need to remove the bottom of the chassis and blow out dust from the fans using compressed air, as this can further aid cooling.
Other helpful measures include using a laptop cooling pad to improve airflow into the laptop, which helps maintain higher clock speeds and better GPU performance.
If your laptop is over a year old and you're past warranty, replacing the thermal paste on both CPU and GPU could lower temperatures and restore better performance.
Together, these steps can help keep your laptop cooler, running longer, and delivering stronger sustained performance.

I cleaned the laptop recently. Also, I found out that reaching 90°C is normal for this processor. I'm already using a cooling fan. I'm not sure what to do. Please help.

Thank you for the suggestion to improve ram.gameplay. However, my CPU remains at 90°C and keeps rising to 100°C again in another thread.
