Is sticking to a simple mouse while using the keyboard the optimal approach? I believe relying solely on the keyboard for game actions is challenging, especially when trying to perform specific moves like 1, 2, 3, or 4, as it often leads to unintended clicks such as pressing q or e. Using a mouse with 2-4 buttons (like Corsair GLAIVE) offers a smoother experience while reducing accidental inputs. Complex button designs can cause similar issues and make the interface feel less intuitive or even unsafe. A basic mouse, such as Amazon Basic or Dell/HP models, can support simple custom buttons for tasks like scrolling up, down, or center clicks, along with saving multiple profiles tailored for different games.
It's just a matter of getting used to it. I've mastered games needing more than 20 unique key combinations. Using an MMO mouse like RAT7 MMO or Razer Naga makes it simpler since you split the keys between two hands. Playing entirely with the keyboard is also feasible, though it demands some piano-like dexterity. If your game demands too many inputs, you'll need to combine them. For instance, assign one action to "1" and another to "CTRL+1".
