Gaming in 2021
It seems the focus is on comparing overall game history versus recent releases. I began playing video games around 2009 and have consistently revisited older titles over time. While newer games are more innovative due to a larger catalog, looking at each year reveals distinct patterns. If you examine the full timeline, you'll notice different trends. Personally, I’ve tried several popular titles like Jedi Fallen Order, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Breath of the Wild, among many others.
We've enjoyed a variety of excellent titles recently. Doom Eternal, Half Life Alyx, Resident Evil 8, Hades, Cyberpunk, and Deathloop are among them.
The latest game I enjoy is Bro Falls. Besides that, it's DBD, Siege, Pub g, BF4, FO3/NV. I haven't felt particularly pumped about trying something new. I played the BF2042 beta and it was really disappointing. Apex has terrible server problems, and ranked play feels like a tough grind. Warzone still has cheaters, New World is frustratingly repetitive. It's annoying because I own a high-end PC for these games. I bought a 200hz ultra-wide monitor in anticipation of BF2042, but I'm not really excited about it. Still, I hope something better comes along soon.
It varies based on how long you consider a few years to be. Usually, it seems there hasn't been much truly new from AAA developers. Some solid titles came out in the past five years: Assassins Creed Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Hitman, among others. (There are also more like Resident Evil, DOOM, but those don't fit my taste.) Cyberpunk was expected to be the next big thing, yet it didn't quite deliver.
Your support for The Ascent was well-deserved—it arrived unexpectedly and offers an enjoyable experience unlike any other.
