Hello. I’m hoping to post this where it belongs.

I want to inquire about headphones and their audio capabilities. I currently own standard over-ear headphones – Sennheiser HD 4.40BT – which feature a conventional 3.5mm audio connection. My question is whether these headphones could recognize surround sound for games such as Overwatch, where precise spatial awareness is important? If they can, I would consider purchasing a separate microphone like the Blue Yeti. However, if they cannot process surround sound, should I instead invest in a dedicated gaming headset, such as the SteelSeries Arctis 5?

Thank you for your assistance.

The audio output will likely be affected by the game’s configuration and your computer’s sound card drivers. If both are configured for stereo or headset mode, you'll likely perceive sounds from all directions, however, pinpointing the source of audio – whether it originates in front or behind you – may be difficult.

The audio output may vary based on the game’s configuration and your computer’s sound card drivers.

If both the game and audio drivers are configured for stereo/headset mode, you’re likely to perceive sound in a 360-degree radius, however, pinpointing the exact location of sounds – whether they originate from in front or behind you – may be difficult.
