Gaming experience disrupted
I've noticed some stuttering in most graphics-heavy games lately. It began about two weeks ago, even though my system had run at full capacity for over a year without problems. Now, many games are running smoothly only slightly, while others become nearly impossible to play. I hadn't monitored my CPU temperatures before, but once the issues started, I started checking them closely. My GPU stays around 30-40°C, while the CPU often hits 60°C or more and spikes up to about 90°C. I’m not sure how long this has been happening or if it’s connected. After cleaning out my desktop, replacing the thermal paste, wiping the hard drive, and installing a fresh Windows update, the problems still persist. I’m open to any advice you might have.
System details: Windows 10 MSI GeForce GTX 980ti gaming, 6GB Intel Core i7 5930K, MSI X99S Gaming, HyperX Fury 2133MHz, 16GB Cooler Master G750M, 500GB SSD, 1TB HDD.
Cooling setup: Corsair H55 Hydro Series CPU cooler (2x 120mm, 1x 140mm), intake fans (2 x 120mm, 1 x 140mm), exhaust fan 200mm.
The temperatures look quite elevated for idle. Have you confirmed the cooler is set up and working properly?
It seems like the processor is overheating, hitting 90°C during stress while aiming for a perfect 60°C under normal conditions. Make sure the cooler is correctly installed.
Cooler is installed correctly and securely. It runs with the latest Nvidia GPU driver.
It seems the issue could stem from insufficient power delivery by the PSU. Disconnecting the coolers power and re-establishing it appears to stabilize temperatures significantly.
