GAMING AND STREAMING CPU?
GAMING AND STREAMING CPU?
I was considering gaming and streaming on a single PC without any overclocking or upgrades. The GPU is an RTX 2060 mid-life model, and I’m looking at two options: an i7-10700 with Z490/Ryzen 7 3700X and B550. I mainly play non-AAA games like Warzone, Valorant, Apex, etc., and I need NVENC for streaming. I want to know which setup performs better in this scenario.
What's better for the 10700? If a good stock cooler exists, go with the 3700x since it already has solid cooling. If you can afford it, an aftermarket cooler will perform even better for gaming and match the 3700x in heavy workloads. So with an aftermarket unit: 10700 paired with 3700x. But these options shouldn't cost the same. You shouldn't spend more than $250–275 on the 3700x. A decent B550 board is about $100.
this cooler looks decent for the 10700, though it won't be overclocked. aim for 3000mhz+ RAM. if you need more speed, consider the B460 with 2666mhz RAM. the B460 only works with 2133-2666mhz, while the Z490 supports all speeds. skipping the Z490 unless you have at least 3000mhz is better. get two sticks and choose dual-rank RAM (channel and rank differ).
3700 offers the chance to upgrade to 5xxx or higher in the future. I really like my 2700x, which makes me a bit biased.
I won't just replace the GPU, I plan to install a new one later.
