Games show noticeable lag during the first time assets are being loaded -/- Fast response times on brand new NVMe drives
Hi everyone, I hope this helps. My experience on this platform seems to be linked with my other systems, even though they’re different. The problem: games often freeze when loading assets, and this also happens with media files like mp4s in Media Player. I’ve tried setting up two different configurations to fix it, but it still happens on both versions. How long has this been happening? It started a few months ago and was initially smooth until it began. I’m trying to figure out what might be causing it. Observations: I see NVMEs responding very slowly after a high drive response time shown in Task Manager. Drives usually run at 0.5ms or 1.7ms, but then jump to 33ms or even 180ms. System specs: Windows 11 Home/Pro, CPU 12900K, RAM DDR5 6000/DDR4 3600, motherboard MSI Z690, 2TB WD SN850 drives, 2TB Samsung 970, GPU EVGA RTX3080Ti. BIOS is up to date. I’ve tested various settings—OS updates, driver changes, different monitors, peripherals, even reinstalled games and Steam files. What I need to know is what’s behind this issue.
