I'm just starting out with PC gaming and used to play video games as a child before the PS2 was released. I'm trying to enjoy PC games at night, but they seem too complicated for me. I really appreciate the high graphics today, but the gameplay feels too complex for my understanding. I'm looking for first-person open world games that are simple to play. My biggest issue is that modern games often require learning many things quickly just to progress. I don't want 2D or retro titles. I'm aiming for more advanced games but need something beginner-friendly. Any recommendations would be great!
I've been really into Destiny 2 lately, just playing for hours without thinking much. Plus, it's available to play for free now.
Mmm...combining FPS and open world in one game, or suggesting options for both?
Doom is straightforward, has been this way for many years across its lineup. Fallout New Vegas adds more features to master, making it feel a bit old-school. Outer Worlds is newer and enjoyable but shares some complexity with Fallout.
Borderlands seems to be the most accessible recent title that blends FPS and open world gameplay, offering a fun experience with manageable systems. It includes inventory handling and leveling but is easy to understand. The first one had a mediocre story, but the later entries are much better.
Warframe isn't a first-person experience; it's third-person, yet it offers fairly straightforward missions and features an open-world environment.
Minecraft is free to play. Firewatch reaches $4.99 during most big sales. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is stunning and costs between $2.99 and $3.99 on GOG during major discounts. Skyrim offers a straightforward RPG experience, especially the Special Edition, which looks great without mods. It usually sells for about $12 to $13, though it might be cheaper around Christmas.
Absolutely, Minecraft and Firewatch offer plenty of things to discover...but when I think about FPS games, it's clear they're linked with shooters because...well, that's the abbreviation, isn't it?
I'm currently playing The Outer Worlds. The visuals are solid and the gameplay is enjoyable. For those new to PC gaming, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Skyrim are excellent choices for modding.
