I was using TW2 Enhanced Edition to get ready for Witcher 3. I noticed I consistently got stuck at 60 FPS unless the game saved automatically, then it would fall around 40. It’s strange, but I’ve been having some system problems lately and wanted to confirm if this is normal. Also, the game runs on an HDD.

It seems similar to your setup. The number stays steady at 60 unless it triggers an automatic save.

It could be capturing a screenshot for the save window, which might be reducing frame rate.

In The Witcher 2, it appears typical.

FPS drops are common during save sessions. I experienced this with Witcher 2 too—just make sure the game returns to 60 FPS and remains stable. But Witcher 2 tends to dislike frequent saves.

It works well. It creates save files and takes screenshots too. I also face a problem where the game crashes unexpectedly when there are too many saves.

The game hesitates during startup. It ran smoothly at over 60 frames per second in ultra settings with a 2560x1440 resolution, but slowed down at around 50 FPS in 4K.

Great to hear it's not too bad, definitely boosting TW3 and adding an SSD.

It's often seen in certain games. Complex RPGs contain extensive information for saving countless item variations. This sheer volume of data can actually hinder performance.
