Hey everyone! I'm facing a strange stutter problem where my games freeze a lot unless I play on the second monitor. I've updated the drivers and tried XMP settings, but it still happens. Right now I'm stuck watching someone's stream to play anything. Anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this? It seems like the GPU usage drops when a video is on screen.

Ensure both settings in the Nvidia control panel are configured at 144. Verify that the game’s in-game options align precisely with your monitor’s resolution and refresh rate. Check if the game supports fullscreen mode for optimal experience. Confirm you’re using full screen, not just a windowed view, and that your display settings match exactly (e.g., 1920x1080 at 144hz). If performance varies between monitors, drivers or EXPO might be the issue.

Interesting note. It seems Nvidia keeps my monitor at 175Hz even after I adjust the settings. The control panel doesn’t prompt me to save changes, and when I close the tab it reverts back. You might want to check if there’s a hidden setting or a background process affecting the refresh rate.

Honestly, I don’t think you should try to work around it. Just set your in-game refresh rate to 175 and the right resolution, then adjust your monitor settings. If you need to change anything, check for an “apply” button after switching resolutions and refresh rates. If not, it means you’re already using the correct settings. Lol

I didn’t realize 175 hz versus 144 hz was preferable, and it looks like the best approach is to just enable the "Native" option next to it. That should resolve the issue effectively... though the term feels a bit intense here.

Thanks for your feedback! It seems the effect only works when the video is visible on screen. Playing it in a window or moving away causes the stutter to reappear.

Hey there! No worries at all! I’m here to help. It looks like many X3D CPUs are facing some unexpected problems right now. I totally get it—AMD is awesome, but dealing with these issues can be frustrating. Let’s see if we can figure something out together!

You recently performed a fresh installation of the GPU driver and adjusted the power settings to full performance, and everything is now functioning correctly.
