I own a Rift S, a 2070 super and 9700f with 16 GB RAM. Games such as Pavlov and Boneworks cause me to run at 40 FPS instead of the Rift S's 80 FPS, even though my setup works well on higher settings.

The mention of frame rate appears in the context of discussing the options available for Boneworks. It was referenced after some time since trying it, though it wasn't highlighted during that period.

Could be 40 frames per second for each eye? Are you certain?

It appears your system struggles to sustain 80 frames per second in those titles, dropping to 40fps and relying on frame interpolation to maintain consistency. Try lowering graphical settings or adjusting supersampling levels to see if stability improves. FPSVR on Steam can help identify CPU or GPU-related performance problems, though its effectiveness may vary depending on how games are installed.
