I just completed setting up a system and am facing issues with games freezing. In AC Odyssey, the game freezes randomly—sometimes for a second or two, other times for 15 to 30 seconds. I’ve tried all possible fixes: uninstalled and reinstalled the game, reformatted the NVMe drive, performed a clean Windows install, and even replaced my games. The problem persists.

My system specs are as follows:
Intel 13600k (stock)
Asus ROG Strix Z790-A motherboard
64GB T-Force Delta DDR43600 RAM (4x16)
PowerColor Red Devil 7900XTX GPU
Corsair RM1000e PSU
ThermalTake ToughLiquid Ultra 360 AIO
3x Phanteks T30 120mm fans on air (push)
4 x Noctua NF-A14 Chromax fans (3 front intake, 1 rear exhaust)
NZXT H7 Flow case

I’ve tried everything I could think of and can’t pinpoint the cause. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! What BIOS version is your motherboard running right now? Where did you get the game installer from? Regarding your drivers, when you mentioned uninstalling and reinstalling the game, did you ensure all GPU drivers were cleared and then manually reinstalled the newest driver from AMD's support site using an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator?

it might involve:
- windows 11 problems
- power supply concerns (do you have another unit to test? did you purchase a new PSU with your new system or did you reuse the previous one?)
- ram issues: try using two sticks instead of one. refer to your motherboard's manual for the right slots to fit two sticks
- Overclocking issues: wasn't it mentioned if you overclocked your GPU? is the ram set to XMP mode?
i don't own a radeon from this generation, but previously they preferred a slight undervoltage to control temperatures and improve performance (as with the Vega 64 / radeon 7 / 5700xt).
tools such as OCCT, prime95, ramtest might assist in detecting instability

Game was set up using Voa Ubisoft Connect. After reinstalling, I used DDU to uninstall the drivers and then downloaded the newest ones from AMD's website. Did not use elevated command.

A new PSU was installed. No components from an old system were used. All four RAM slots are filled. The GPU remains unoverclocked; VRAM speeds and timing haven’t been changed. Everything is original except the fan curve. The CPU wasn’t overclocked—just allowed to boost manually, and XMP is applied for RAM.

Not sure anymore about what worked, but I can pinpoint it now since I’m no longer having issues even after a clean install of Windows and driver updates.
Had similar problems before.
Make sure to update and install all drivers—bios, monitor, motherboard manufacturer, etc.
Use Driver Easy for that; it’s straightforward and helps avoid forgetting anything.
Consider changing DPI, HDMI settings, and removing any cables connected to another monitor.
Turn off AMD Freesync in your monitor settings (ensure global/gaming Freesync is also disabled in AMD Adrenaline).
(See if removing Adrenaline improves things; after uninstalling drivers, try the older AMD driver version 22.5.1—DL from guru3d works well. I recall it helped a lot, though I’m not sure it fully resolved the issue.)
Use Group Policy to exclude drivers during Windows updates.
Uninstall all GPU drivers using DDU and download an AMD driver without Adrenaline (select "driver only" in the dropdown).
Experiment with some UEFI settings and look up gaming performance tips online.

We didn't realize we could install drivers easily. How can I adjust the fan curve because PowerColor lacks the necessary software?
