Hi Kyle,
replace External HDD Cable/Interface and check, it might be connection issue. and also scan for bad sectors on the Hard Disk.
Hope this will resolve your query.
I do not understand what do you mean by that, can you show me a screenshot on what you meant?

Hello kyle,
As You are using 2 Hard disk drive - one is your internal HDD Which is primary and your External HDD is your secondary Hard disk, there might be some bad sectors on your external hard disk so I Suggest you to perform following tasks,
1. RUN COMMAND PROMPT AS ADMINISTRATOR AND TYPE ''CHKDSK.EXE (TYPE DRIVE LETTER.- FOR Ex; E/ F/ D) '' - Make sure you have connected your external hdd to your pc before you perform this -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHKDSK
2. RUN COMMAND PROMPT AS ADMINISTRATOR AND TYPE FOLLOWING COMMANDS,
diskpart
list disk
select disk # (where # is the number of the external drive)
clean
create partition primary
format fs=ntfs quick
active
assign
exit
-

NOTE; - THIS WILL REMOVE EVERYTHING ON YOUR EXTERNAL HDD, INCLUDING ANY BAD SECTORS
AND BE CAREULL AND BE DOUBE SURE WHILE SELECTING THE DISK.....
Am sure this will resolve your query..
IF YOU GET ANY ERROR MESSAGE PLEASE TAKE A SCREEN SHOT AND REPLY ME, AM REALLY INTERESTED IN SOLVING THIS....
THANKS
ASH
Here’s a rewritten version of the text, aiming for clarity and conciseness:
“I'm experiencing issues with my external hard drive – specifically, intermittent freezes during gameplay, particularly with Steam games. It started shortly after purchasing the drive new. I suspect there might be a problem with the connection or potential bad sectors on the drive itself.
Could you advise me on how to troubleshoot this? Specifically, I'm wondering if running `CHKDSK` (as an administrator) could identify and potentially fix any errors. Alternatively, is it possible that a faulty cable/interface is causing the problem? I’m using an external HDD as a secondary drive alongside my internal one.
Could you provide step-by-step instructions for checking the drive's health and running `CHKDSK`, keeping in mind I rely heavily on this drive for storing important data?”
I have the same problem but I just bought mine a few days ago, It doesn't have any saved data on it anymore so I can try some of the stuff you guys suggest.
