Games failing to stay in video memory on Vega 11
I've never experienced such issues with any games I've played before. Recently, games started freezing, crashing, or running out of video memory. I only have one 8GB RAM stick, and I'm aware I should upgrade soon. I ran a MemTest and it showed no problems. I tried installing the latest AMD software updates, but that didn't help either. I haven't made any changes to my computer or BIOS settings, so I'm unsure what's causing this problem.
video memory refers to the GPU's RAM. You're likely using a GT710.
my assumption might be incorrect, but the statement above stays valid. likely because the game you're playing has certain options enabled that demand significant resources, like FFX and anti-aliasing, which typically need the most. you may want to review those settings.
Vega 11 actually has 2GB of VRAM. Once the VRAM is depleted, the game switches to using your RAM. When the RAM runs out, it starts relying on your hard drive. I’m pretty sure that when the 2GB of VRAM is exhausted, the game consumes excessive RAM, forcing the system to crash.
today was a Tuesday and the Sunday games performed well. I didn’t adjust any options on my PC or in the games. However, I encountered an issue in Fortnite—even with low shadows, off 3D rendering, and minimal settings—I experienced random freezes and occasional crashes when loading Valorant, often reporting out of video memory.
These games include a slider that displays the VRAM consumption based on the graphics configurations you select.
