During Sea of Thieves gaming sessions, I often notice minor micro-stutters that don’t affect frame rate much. When FPS hovers near 144, the game drops to about 140 FPS. Checking stats via MSI After Burner shows frame times are generally stable, aside from the timing data. I’m wondering if these stutters are intentional or just part of the experience. The in-game overlay frame time chart appears clearer than in the burner window. These micro-stutters seem to be normal for this setup. My system runs on a Samsung 980 500 GB NVMe SSD, with Windows 11 at 144Hz. The GPU is an RTX 2060 i7-10700k, paired with 32 GB RAM and a 1080p monitor. I assembled the PC in the summer of 2020.

The difference appears relatively small. In fact, 140fps micro-stutters aren't something you should worry about. It's usually just a minor drop in frame rate, likely due to your GPU slowing down slightly or the scene being more demanding to render.

Stutters relate to frame rate rather than FPS, also known as frame pace. It’s likely you can get stable 144fps while still experiencing stuttering. This might be too much for me; check the graphics card for dust or consider replacing thermal pads/paste. This GTX1060 with 6GB RAM performs this way under stress (well-ventilated case).

But I can feel a micro stutter. plus the frametime sky rockets to 55 ms from 11 ms

It's been two years, and I think the GPU doesn't require a thermal paste replacement. Its hotspot hits 100 degrees, but it still stutters before overheating.
