My PC has begun experiencing sharp stutters, freezing, occasional CTD and restarts while playing Outer Worlds and Rocket League.
I use MSI Afterburner and RTSS to track CPU and GPU temperatures and usage during games.
GPU temperatures stay below 76°C, but usage spikes to 90-99% for Outer Worlds. CPU temps range from 78-86°C depending on the core, with around 70% usage while playing Outer Worlds.
In Rocket League, both GPU and CPU temps hover between 60-70°C, and usage is about 50-60%. The game has started stuttering, freezing, triggering CTD, and restarting my computer frequently. These issues are becoming more common in the game. I can only play for 20-30 minutes before one of these problems occurs.

Motherboard: Asus Tuf Mark 1 Z270
GPU: Zotac AMP Extreme 1080ti
CPU: Intel i7 6700K
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 mghz
OS: Windows 10
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 850 W (80+ Gold Certified)

I built my system in winter 2016, upgraded to the 1080ti in 2017, and added RAM in 2018. I’ve used the PSU since 2016.
I’m trying to identify what could be causing these problems and how to fix them. I ran a memory test with no errors and recently changed the thermal paste without success. I performed a factory reset, checked Windows Defender, and everything is running normally with no overclocking.

Anyone has suggestions on troubleshooting this issue or possible causes? Please let me know if you need more details.

Ensure you have the most recent BIOS installed on your motherboard. Consider turning on X.M.P in BIOS and observe if it resolves the issue. If successful, proceed to check the version compatible with your Windows 10 setup. We are presently using version 2004.

Additionally, examine a replacement PSU or a donor unit that matches the same make, model, and wattage to eliminate a defective PSU.

Use ddu uninstaller to delete all NVIDIA drivers and reinstall the newest driver from nvidia.com
Run userbenchmark.com and share the link of your result, for example:
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/28977730
Verify Windows integrity
Launch the command prompt as administrator and execute DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-open-an-...pt-2618088
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...em...5b60477a93
Perform a clean boot
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help...in-windows
Test memory with memtest.org USB autoinstaller (bootable USB)
Inspect the hard drive using its manufacturer’s tool

I have updated the BIOS and Windows 10 to the latest versions. Then I attempted to play Rocket League, but after roughly 30 minutes it froze with the music playing but the FPS remained at 1. It stayed like that for about five minutes before I had to turn off the case and restart it.

After that, I used the DDU uninstaller to remove and reinstall a new NVIDIA driver and enabled XMP in the BIOS.

I just ran UserBenchmark. Here are the results.
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/31480440

I plan to try playing Rocket League again to see if it works. If it still restarts or freezes, I will check Windows integrity and run memtest, then attempt a clean boot and inspect the hard drive. If the issue persists, I’m wondering whether it’s related to the PSU, given my UserBenchmark score, since everything seems to be functioning well according to it. The only consistent problem appears to be with the PSU, as shipping times for those seem longer now.

It didn't function properly. I managed to play for around 20 minutes before it crashed, requiring me to restart the computer.
