after some research, others suggest with Windows 11 24H2 this happens because easyanticheat is a kernel-level anticheat that interacts with the Windows kernel. it checks hardware and software during startup when booting the Windows kernel, EAC interacts with the kernel in a way that causes crashes. there are different versions of 24H2, possibly a specific build, and the crash might come from the kernel itself.
i have a few LiveKernelEvents in the Windows Event viewer; when I crashed last night while playing, is there any fix or should I wait for it to be resolved?
What BIOS version is installed on your motherboard? Are you experiencing problems with Forknife or with other applications? As mentioned, have you attempted to remove it from your system using Easyanticheat?
I previously shared a post about a similar issue where my PC would freeze or become unresponsive, requiring a reboot. So far, I haven’t tried any fixes or tests, even though I played a new game last night and experienced three of these freezes or crashes in total over five hours, all within a short time frame.
I’m currently checking the event viewer to gather more details, but I’m not sure what I’m seeing. I really need a solution because it’s frustrating. Rebooting feels like a waste of time, and it’s not enjoyable to play a game just once.
I also noticed some disk event IDs—158, 5-8—and several kernel event IDs like 6, 24, 55, 16, 125, 41, along with warning codes such as 10016 and 158. I’m not sure how to interpret this information, and it’s making things even more confusing.
I’m aware this isn’t unique to my situation, but I still want to resolve it. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
my bio is current, other names are straightforward, avoiding cheating issues isn't the main concern here. I can't remove easyanticheat, which makes it hard for me to play the game properly.
I have verified the power supply knob.
"The knob allows me to bypass the Zero RPM fan setting and set a lower minimum starting speed. If the PSU needs more airflow, the controller will adjust the knob's position accordingly." - RM850x fan knob? - Reddit
I changed it so the fan runs at about 50% capacity all the time, which keeps it off Zero RPM mode. It says it can override if necessary. I'll see how it affects tonight.
I honestly cannot find that anywhere in display settings maybe you are still on windows 10, the forknife app isn't even in there anywhere for me, or GPU acceleration anywhere.
I had turned my power supply knob to the 50% fan speed, as well I noticed I have hot air blowing under my computer desk from a vent. Last night before playing I covered the vent, it had got a bit cold in my room by the morning so Im not sure I can keep doing this. I am going to test tonight to see if keeping the vent open with the 50% fan speed will do anything, although just from turning the knob it did NOT crash last night at all which I am happy I am getting somewhere. Will have to test other titles too
Responding to anyone who can close the post immediately, it was the Zero RPM fan setting on the new rm850x. I adjusted the fan to run continuously by turning the knob on the PSU. I haven't encountered any crashes or freezing during testing for several hours across various titles.
I keep my vent open under the desk, which helps maintain a normal room temperature now.
