Gameplay feels sluggish beyond urban areas on a GTX 980.
Hello. Your setup is quite high-end. With all settings at maximum, you're experiencing performance drops in rural areas, dropping to 30-35 fps. The options that might be too demanding for your GTX 980 include advanced shadows, ultra resolution, and high frame rates. Consider reducing shadow quality or lowering resolution to improve stability.
Disable the shadow settings and turn off advanced options. For more details, see the help section.
MSAA can be quite strict in FPS games, even when boosted to double its level, causing at least a 10% drop in frames. Grass settings pushed to the maximum also noticeably impact performance. In advanced mode, adjust the shadow slider to roughly midpoint—it requires significant VRAM and provides less visual change, giving you more flexibility with simpler settings.
However, even with Grass V.HIGH and adjustments on the advanced settings (to medium size), I still see dips at 45 degrees from the sides. I also have advanced shadows enabled. Should I turn those off?
Enable the feature, raise graphics shadow quality to High, and set other options to Soft for better performance.
