Hey everyone, I’m looking for some technical advice on this setup.
My system includes a Ryzen 5 3600x with an 1660s and 16GB DDR4 RAM (3200MHZ), paired with an SSD. I’m running the latest version of Windows 10, with GPU scheduling enabled, but the issue persists across different Windows versions as well. The monitor is 75Hz.

Despite not reaching extreme temperatures—around 70-75°C for both CPU and GPU—I’m experiencing about 100-120 FPS. The game runs smoothly at 100+ frames, but when I enable VSync, the frame rate drops noticeably, sometimes by 20-30 frames during intense moments like explosions. This causes noticeable stuttering.

It seems the problem isn’t screen tearing, but rather frame rate instability. When VSync is off, the gameplay feels much smoother. Aiming and movement become extremely difficult under these conditions.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? What fixes have you tried?

Open the 'adv_options' file in the 'players' folder within the 'Call of Duty Modern Warfare' folder, inside the Documents directory.
Modify 'VideoMemoryScale' to .65 or .55.
Adjust 'RendererWorkerCount' to 6 (the number of physical CPU cores).
Reboot. If this doesn't work, try version 456.xx of Nvidia drivers.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I did try the first part of your suggestion and didnt really notice a diffrence. Im a bit hesitant to mess with the drivers, i wanna hold off on doing that for now, its probably a good idea to mention that i have updated the drivers several times after i first noticed this issue. I feel like the new driver updates would maybe fix this if it was driver related. Could you let me know why specifically the 456. drivers?

There is a problem with the newest Nvidia drivers and COD War Zone. If the trouble began after upgrading to any of the latest drivers, reverting to older ones may resolve it. You should run DDU in safe mode to remove all file drivers, then reinstall the previous version. I generally avoid installing new drivers or updates immediately unless they address a specific issue.

A fresh setup with 456.70 didn't show any changes after an hour of playing, unfortunately.

Make sure to obtain the most recent chipset drivers for your AM4 platform from the AMD website.

Had the same issue Guys. To resolve it, I opened the NVIDIA Control Panel, adjusted the 3D settings, then modified the program settings. I added Cold War and scrolled down to V sync, turning it on. After restarting the game, it worked. BUT... when checking graphics settings in the menu, V sync was listed as OFF even though it was actually ON. It seemed like a strange bug. Probably only affects certain users like me, but it really frustrated me until I fixed it. Have a great day! ✌🏼
