Game that got you into PC gaming
I keep playing Team Fortress 2 for nearly five years now. I used to play Halo PC for a while before that, but it worked well on all my machines whereas TF2 struggled. That experience led me to set up a PC and eventually dive deeper into PC gaming.
I wasn't limited to just one title that achieved this, but I tried Wolfenstein 3D, Doom/II, Command & Conquer/Red Alert and a space RPG named Escape Velocity during that period. At the time, gaming systems cost hundreds of dollars for something strictly for play, while my household already had an office PC (an Apple Mac Performa 580). The decision was ultimately mine.
It was the Day Z mod that truly sparked my interest in PC gaming. After that, I appreciated the independence you can have with a PC. I used to play poorly on my old Dell, which first showed me the strength of PC gaming. However, since my friends played on consoles, I stayed on for a while.
