I own an R5 3600 with 16GB DDR4-3200 and an RTX 3060ti. I'm playing FC6 with all settings at the highest level, including ray tracing shadows and reflections. My GPU stays under 90% usage consistently. CPU stays around 40% or less, though Task Manager shows it's loading a few threads of the 12 available. Resolution is just slightly above 1080p thanks to DSR. I've set the Nvidia control panel to prioritize maximum performance for Far Cry 6 and kept the card at full speed. My RAM and video memory aren't near capacity, and neither the CPU nor GPU is overheating. I don’t run any other demanding apps or games, disabled Ubisoft overlays, and even lowering graphics settings hasn’t improved things much. My drivers are current. Performance is still lacking—FPS often drops to around 50 in the mid-50s, with occasional 25-30 fps drops in busy scenes. Reducing settings doesn’t seem to help. I’ve never experienced these problems with Far Cry 5 or New Dawn before. Turning off Ray Tracing didn’t noticeably change my frame rate either. If anyone has suggestions on how to improve this situation, it would be greatly appreciated.
Absolutely not purchase Ubisoft titles. Understandably unhelpful, but aside from their dubious ethics, these games consistently struggle with performance problems. Even FC 3 and 4 still face unresolved bugs and issues, which is typical for many Ubisoft releases. Performance concerns are often overlooked unless they become extremely severe, but you can expect frequent updates every few days to address them. I’d strongly suggest giving up hope that your issues will ever be resolved.
Soft (af) is a video game company known for poor acting and pretending to create well-optimized games. The focus lies with players to adjust performance settings for their PC, which should be the core of game development jobs and passion. Far Cry 6 serves as another case to highlight how some companies prioritize fixing what they like rather than addressing broader player needs. It seems they often adapt their approach based on feedback, though their methods still raise questions about genuine care for gamers.
I checked some performance numbers using the 3060 benchmark. Running at 50-70fps in 1080p with RT enabled seems suitable for your setup. It sits somewhere between a 5700XT and an RTX 2070 Super, but offers more VRAM. Turning RT off doesn’t noticeably change the gameplay experience.
RT off doesn’t really affect performance; it just reduces the load on your graphics card. However, with Vsync enabled at 60Hz, your GPU usage stays high—often above 90-95% even when RT is active.
