When it starts and keeps saying "CMOS Cleared" repeatedly, the battery is likely dead. If it boots normally without overclocking, another issue might be at play—consider replacing the battery first. If that doesn’t help, a BIOS update could be an option, though there aren’t many alternatives left.

It seems the CMOS battery is completely drained. I installed an MSI Z97 Gaming 5 about two months ago and discovered it was also dead.

Some of those small guys can cost as much as a pizza. Still, I'm on board with that assessment. Swap the battery—hope it solves the issue. If not, remove the new one and reinstall the old one. That way you'll have a brand-new battery.
