Temperature, background programs and random events all influence performance. For instance, running Just Cause 3 on your PC with internet active can cause crashes. Disconnecting the cable leads to a smoother gaming session. Likely the issue stems from numerous connected apps using bandwidth.

It seems to be the hottest it's ever gotten. Yesterday it got so intense it caused pain in my hand, and the exhaust area near the WASD keys was the source.

I ran it for more than ten minutes without exceeding 70°C, and the TJ limit stays around 105°C, so I’m far from thermal shutdown—just some CPU strain.
