Game runs smoothly without any audio output.
I recently played a lot of Forza Horizon 5 and ready or not. Now and then my monitor suddenly loses signal. It happens randomly, not during loading screens, and occurs in different games as well—sometimes occasionally. I still hear the game in the background, but no matter what I do (like pressing ctrl + alt + del) it doesn’t work. Even when unplugging and plugging back in, the issue persists. My build includes a MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 2x with M.2 NVMe, Ryzen 5 3600, ASUS B550M-ITX/AC Corsair Vengeance 3200 DDR4, Corsair SF600 PSU, and Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD. All my games and the operating system are installed there. Note: My SSD has a cooling shroud above it, I also use a Noctua top-down cooler for active cooling, and I have an open case with an XTP ProTron XPROT-N. I’ve noticed the shroud gets warm too.
I listen with my headphones, meaning my display is only for showing. Yet I notice the extra cable is still present.
I identified the issue and found a fix. The 3070 works backward compatibility with PCIe gen 3 or gen 4, letting your motherboard choose the right port automatically. However, sometimes it picks the wrong settings, leading to problems like monitors disconnecting. To address this: look up your motherboard’s specifications online to confirm if your card is in a gen 3 or gen 4 slot. If you’re using a riser cable, verify its speed capabilities too. After gathering that info, boot into BIOS and adjust the PCIe settings—switch them from “Auto” to either “gen 4” or “gen 3” based on where your card is connected. Save these changes and restart your system. This should resolve the issue, even though it’s not something you usually see online. If it doesn’t work, the problem might be simpler than expected.
