Have you checked the game files in Steam? Click the game, select Properties, go to Local Files tab, and click Verify. Corrupted or missing files will prompt Steam to redownload them.

I experienced this situation once. The games weren't truly removed; Steam simply overlooked the directory where they were stored. Restore them (make sure to temporarily relocate all game files elsewhere, since Steam can't create a folder with existing content) and then move the files back. When you start the game again, it will attempt to install it, notice that everything is already present, and let you play.

It was the same for me too, just frustrating since I don’t understand why it occurs. It doesn’t usually happen, but when it does it’s still irritating, haha.

Unstable operation commonly linked to me, except for the registration. If you reinstall to the same location, your previous files will be recovered.
