I tried the new Jump Ship Demo and it caused my GPU to fail.
It wasn’t the only case, but once the GPU hits maximum usage, most games crash after a few minutes.
My goal is to get the card back to how it worked a week ago.
The first attempt was using DDU and installing the latest drivers. That didn’t solve the issue.
Next, I considered flashing the GPU’s BIOS. I’m new to this process and worried about potential problems, so I double-checked my preparation:
The card is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. I’ve attached a readout image from GPU-Z.
I saved the current BIOS using GPU-Z.
I downloaded the NVIDIA flash from TechPowerUp and copied the x64 version to a folder on my C drive.
The BIOS file was retrieved from TechPowerUp and applied via flashing.
I followed the instructions in this video.
My motherboard includes built-in graphics, which I can use as a backup if this fails.
Could you please confirm if this approach makes sense? Did I handle everything correctly?

Unless the new BIOS introduces a modification that stops this from occurring, re-flashing isn't necessary.
It's improbable that any game or operating system can alter GPU BIOS settings; more likely you're facing overheating issues caused by age, so consider adjusting the voltage temporarily until the problem resolves. Overheating tends to worsen rapidly once it begins.
During BIOS updates or flashes, ensuring compatibility with your VRAM type is crucial, even if the GPU model appears identical, as VRAM specifications can differ.
I've checked GPU-Z during crashes and consistently saw my average GPU temperature around 68*C with the hottest area at 80*C. It doesn’t look like overheating, since those issues seem memory-related. I ran memtest to confirm and it wasn’t my RAM.
I’m convinced the problem was the game itself because I only started having this issue after playing it, and many others have reported similar problems.
If not the BIOS, what other component on the card might have been affected by the game? I’m trying to figure out how to reset the card back to its previous state if a software glitch caused it.

You probably agreed to terms in the EUA's fine print when downloading, installing, and running the game.
Be cautious of any fixes you find—they could worsen the situation.
It might simply be a coincidence and your PSU is just giving up. This could happen if you played an unoptimized game and stressed the PSU. You might want to test your GPU on another system first.
