Recently, I’ve been enjoying Grand Theft Auto V and Battlefront II, but the games are experiencing significant lag despite running smoothly on my computer for the last two years. Previously, I consistently achieved over 60 frames per second, but now my frame rate frequently drops below 60 and sometimes even reaches 20-30.

Here are my PC specifications:
i5 7400 processor
Rx 580 with 8gb of memory
8gb of ddr4 RAM
z270x gaming motherboard
1TB solid-state drive

The only changes I recall making are updating my Windows 10 and Radeon drivers to their latest versions.

I encountered a problem like this with Grand Theft Auto V in the past, and resolving it by disabling numerous graphic settings within the Radeon software temporarily improved things. However, this issue has reappeared, and adjusting graphics settings in Radeon software only exacerbates the lag.

I haven’t made any hardware modifications to my PC recently, so that shouldn't be the cause unless it’s due to accumulated dust inside. What steps can I take to resolve this problem?

Certain cards require their cooling fans to activate only when they attain a particular heat level.

To monitor your temperatures, you can utilize the software HWMonitor.

Dust restricts airflow. Clean the inside of your PC.
Heat = Thermal Throttling
What are the temps of your system, idle and gaming?

I chose to unlock the enclosure, and it appears my RX 580's blades are only rotating during the computer startup process. Is this typical?
