I acquired an Alienware r7 initially equipped with a core i5 8400 and a GTX 1070 featuring 8GB of DDR4 memory, alongside a 480-watt power supply. Seeking enhancements, I added an 860-watt PSU, a GTX 1080 Ti (foundations edition), an i7 8700, and subsequently increased my RAM to 16GB DDR4. While playing graphically intensive games like Battlefield 5 at 1080p, my frame rates typically hover between 60-75 fps – which is acceptable, but not optimal given my hardware. I was considering whether this performance discrepancy was isolated to a single title. Consequently, I utilized PC Benchmark and the results indicated that both my processor and graphics card were significantly below anticipated levels. I suspected a potential throttling concern, yet my component temperatures appeared satisfactory. Any guidance would be welcomed.

Temperatures are consistently stable due to protective systems that regulate your hardware’s heat levels. Utilize programs like GPU-Z or Core Temp, or preferably MSI Afterburner, to monitor your CPU and GPU speeds during gameplay and observe whether they reach maximum performance levels.

If they aren’t operating at their maximum capacity, how can I help them reach that level?

The reason for sluggish performance hinges on the cause—if it's due to temperature, you’ll likely need to clean your cooler or consider upgrading to a more effective model.
