Game performance drops abruptly as CPU reaches maximum capacity.
Hi, I own an i5 7600k that isn't overclocked, paired with a GTX 1070 Ti and 16GB RAM. Until now, my graphics were the only bottleneck, but lately performance has dropped significantly. Even with settings set to minimums, my CPU stays at full capacity while the GPU lags around 40%. I've removed all recently installed programs, kept CPU temps under 60°C, and it doesn't throttle. It seems like the GPU isn't handling low settings well, causing big frame drops. Currently, Task Manager shows about a 7% CPU load. Any advice would be appreciated.
I can help you with that! Just let me know what you need to do and I’ll guide you through it.
OOOOOHHH did you gget updates recently? you might have gotten rekt by one of the specter / meltdown patches monkaS feels bad man (edit) just side note. in my opinion the fact they didn't patch it in the 6 months they knew about it before it went public is a demonstration of the fact they really have no way of fixing it and won't any time soon. it's a serious flaw and all the "fixes" we are seeing are barely bandaid and spit put over a missing limb spewing blood. And this will very likely delay their next generation of CPU as they have to re-engineer the architecture to remove the original design flaw.
I don’t recall the last time I updated, but I’m sure it wasn’t what’s been happening. If it was, my powerful gaming PC might have become unusable.
