Game pauses intermittently without noticeable frame rate decline
I am a competitive Fortnite player. After installing new drivers on my new PC, my game ran very smoothly. After a few days, it started stuttering during building and fighting, and randomly too. The FPS counter stayed at 144hz. When I enabled VSync, the game worked better but added input delay, making it hard to outplay. I have good specs.
Components: i5 8600k, Gigabyte H310, PSU T Dagger 600W, ASUS 1660 Super OC Edition.
Which part is causing the issue? Should I upgrade something?
What kind of monitor are you using? Disabling VSync can actually eliminate input lag. Google userbenchmark and run that, post results link here or dm me.

Do you experience any BSOD or occasional restarts during gameplay? Have you monitored temperatures for the GPU and CPU while under load? I recommend turning off v-sync in the NVIDIA control panel under 3D settings, selecting global options, and using maximum performance with power management in power mode plus "maximum refresh rate." Also, disable v-sync and NVIDIA low latency mode. Please apply these changes. In Fortnite, you can limit your FPS to 160, turn off v-sync, enable reflex latency mode (on + boost). Make sure to test your gameplay on both DX11 and DX12, restarting as needed when switching between different DirectX versions.
You might also attempt to remove your GPU drivers using DDU, then upgrade to the latest ones from the NVIDIA website. There are guides available on YouTube by searching for "DDU nvidia drivers". Doing a clean install will also reset your NVIDIA control panel configurations, so you'll have to redo those steps.
