Game of the decade???
Game of the decade???
As 2019 approaches its end and 2020 gets closer, what do you think is the best game of the decade? For me, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was the most enjoyed game from 2010 to 2019. It was released nine years ago and I still play it. If I had to choose a multiplayer title, CS:GO would be the top pick. What are your opinions?
multiplayer games likely benefit from lasting appeal due to higher replay value, leading to more frequent play.
games such as the last of us and god of war are excellent (only heard about), yet most players only play them once or twice before moving on.
how will this be evaluated?
if revenue is the focus, titles with microtransactions like league, dota, csgo, and tf2 tend to be preferred, though personal feelings may cloud judgment.
i’d recommend csgo for its significant influence on esports and its consistent quality without ever facing a "game is broken" crisis.
since league started in late October 2009, it wouldn’t fit this discussion, though it might have been a strong contender.
It's even more remarkable that I've maintained my connection to SMG2 over the years.
Well, you actually had something for the game and you really enjoyed it. Nintendo creates solid games, so nothing too "showy" about it.
Some might say you're a hillbilly redneck if you like the Dodge Hellcat, while others think it's a nice-looking car.
"Back to the main point."
But newer titles likely benefit from better graphics, making single-player experiences from 2012 seem outdated compared to modern titles with features like RTX.
I think if people voted based on their own views, it could have a stronger effect on the results than it should.
Even if the launch was disastrous for me, Read Dead Redemption 2 stands out. Great storytelling and stunning scenery keep my interest going for over an hour, which is rare for me since my focus isn’t always strong. It’s also the first game where I enjoy spending time exploring rather than rushing through the story.
GTA v comes in second, offering a lot of content and story, but RDR2 surpasses it.
Fortnight stands out for its influence despite never having played it. Personally, though, I’d recommend Horizon Zero Dawn.
It's definitely Witcher 3, with Divinity Original Sin likely taking the second spot. For multiplayer, I believe it's shared among Dota, LoL, Heartstone and CS:GO because these games really helped establish e-sports. I've only tried CS:GO, but the others are very popular according to what I've heard.
It depends on personal preferences.
Certain titles appeal to different audiences, and opinions vary widely.
Civilization V ranks second among Metacritic's top PC games since Half-Life 2 and The Orange Box, though not all players engaged with it.
Some experiences don’t hold up over time—Fallout New Vegas was strong at launch but may not compare with newer releases featuring advanced graphics.
Additionally, many people favor games from the past two to three years because they’re more memorable.
Well when you rule out 2009, you're ruling out two of the top contenders in Minecraft and League of Legends. So people are going to throw The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and The Witcher III into the mix. Then there's this other part of the gaming community that's going to throw Dark Souls and Overwatch into the equation. Then there's another part that's going to throw in Mass Effect and Skyrim. Then there's the CSGO, COD and Battlefield gamers, they'll have their say.
Personally, I think GTA 5 will get the win simply because it's sold the most copies outside of Minecraft and because I've put in over 900 hours into it.
