I’ve been struggling with this issue for some time and am now seeking assistance urgently. As indicated in the title, I’m unable to launch games developed by From Software—specifically Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, and their latest release, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Initially, when I installed these titles for the very first time on my PC, they functioned flawlessly. However, after a period of inactivity or closing the game, I can no longer start it. The process begins with a black screen followed by an error message indicating that the program is unresponsive, eventually transitioning to a pale white display. (Reinstalling does not restore the initial functionality experienced during the very first installation.)
Here’s a breakdown of my system specifications:
GPU: GTX 1070 8GB KFA2
CPU: Intel i5-6600k 3.5GHz
Motherboard: A motherboard has been replaced due to failure, but the problem persists after the change (therefore, I’ve eliminated this as a factor).
RAM: 16GB Corsair 2666MHz
Power Supply: 650W
Storage: A 2TB HDD for general files and games (including Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, and Sekiro) along with a 250GB SSD primarily used for Windows and essential data.
I’ve attempted numerous troubleshooting steps suggested online, such as restarting my PC, disconnecting peripherals (keyboard, mouse, controller), booting with a single monitor, and examining system files/settings. I also experimented with older drivers but to no avail. Even complete file deletion and reinstallations haven't resolved the issue, nor has Steam’s verification process yielded any results.
