Game issues on PC during cut scenes and audio drops
I'm not entirely sure if this is the right spot, but I'm trying anywhere I can at this point. About a week ago, my PC began behaving oddly. It's a solid gaming laptop, an MSI GS75 Stealth 8SF. It handles games smoothly at 80 or higher on most titles. The only problem has been with RDR2, where ultra performance dropped to around 50 in busy zones instead of the usual 60. Recently, after installing Doom 2016, I've noticed strange audio glitches. Secondary sounds like doors opening or footsteps keep cutting out intermittently—every few seconds it stops and restarts. I've updated drivers, changed headset settings, tried hardwired connections, Bluetooth, and even speakers. Nothing fixed it.
Another annoyance is that in games like Cold War, Titan Fall 2, Alien Isolation, and Doom, the cut scenes become extremely choppy. They don't just drop to 30 FPS; they stutter at about one frame per second most of the time. Even when it runs smoothly for a couple seconds, it freezes completely afterward. This makes watching unenjoyable, especially since I enjoy story-driven single-player games.
What bothers me is that older titles like Bioshock Everywhere run perfectly, while modern ones do. I suspect my PC is now using the integrated GPU instead of the dedicated one when auto mode is active. I switched it manually to use the dedicated GPU, but it's not ideal. My laptop stays plugged in, settings are optimized for performance with auto fan and gaming mode enabled. Temperatures are high—CPU around 70°C, GPU at about 80°C. It seems like thermal throttling is happening, though I'm not sure.
My GPU usage is consistently high (90-100%), and I've heard my brother mention similar audio problems on a non-gaming machine. He also said his older laptop had issues but didn't have cut scenes or audio problems. I installed malware removal tools and ADWcleaner, which cleared the same three viruses from my system. But the problem persists.
I've checked forums, searched extensively, and talked to support, but no one else seems to have the same issue with a specific game. I'm running out of ideas. This has been frustrating for a week now. With Cyberpunk coming out, I'm really disappointed—I can't enjoy it if cut scenes ruin the experience. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. I've attached my DxDiag and msinfo32 files in case they could assist.
